The voice budget

Every singer I've coached has said some version of this: "I don't understand, the show was fine, and then I woke up with nothing."

Here's the uncomfortable truth: most tour voices don't get lost on stage. You warmed up, you had your monitor mix, you were singing technique you've practised for years. Your voice gets lost in the four hours around the show: shouting at the merch table, talking over the support band, the after-party, the bus lounge with everyone laughing, the hotel bar.
